Garden Weddings Benefit From Professional Planning

Thursday, July 31st, 2008
by Jerry Blackburn

The one time you do not want to see any specious flowers or plants is during a garden wedding. Even as it is true that wedding planners are notorious for their use of these fake flora in order to bring to the forefront a certain mood or ambiance, within the confines of a beautiful garden wedding, these kinds of decorations should be avoided.

At the very heart of a nature setting is of course the purity of the elements as well as the purity of the emotions it evokes. Unadulterated love is being celebrated at this kind of outdoor marriage celebration and the clean air, the scents of the flowers, and the gentle rustling of the breeze in the tree tops makes for the ideal backdrop to this kind of occasion.

As a wedding planner you wish to ensure to preserve the integrity of the nature theme while at the same time working within the confines of the budget concerns your client couple may have as well as the available locations. Another thing to consider when planning a garden wedding is of course the weather. While many understand that a November garden wedding is ill advised ? no matter where in the country you reside ? because of the possibility of inclement weather, it is also true that with a bit finesse you will be able to present the kind of venue to your clients that comes close to the garden without actually being located out of doors.

Make yourself aware of local venues related to horticulture. These may include private rooftop gardens, large greenhouses, municipal conservatories, an enclosed portion of an arboretum, and a host of other locales where the outdoors are conveniently moved inside. Of course, if the weather cooperates, then the perfect nature themed wedding will be the garden celebration during the late morning or early evening hours when the sunlight is soft and the flowers are opened.

If you are outdoors, ensure that a rented canopy or tent is at hand and may be unrolled within seconds to cover the bridal party and the guests in case of a rainstorm. Furthermore, the wise wedding planner knows the local fauna as well as flora, and will carry ant spray, wasp repellent and also mosquito candles as a matter of necessity during such weddings.

Integrate the color scheme of the venue where the nuptials are being held and ensure that the flowers you will see during the ceremony may have their likenesses found on the cake as well. Some couples may wish to incorporate animals into their themed wedding and while this may make for a stunning ambiance it is wise to discourage this notion. Children present may seek to interact with the animals in ways that are not appropriate and if the reception is to take place in the same venue, the possibility of the animals ingesting food they are not permitted to eat is great. It is best to rely on just flora and other props for ambiance.

This is crucial since it will help the guests remember the memorable day that they received the favor. In this article, we seek to provide you with more information on the different types of personalized wedding favors that you can try out as well as give you useful information for giving personalized wedding favors.

When planning to give out personalized wedding favor, i must stress that its important to plan ahead. The reason is that compared to other types of wedding favors that are easily bought off the shelf, personalized wedding favors require special attention. What if the favors have already been manufactured? Well, they still need to undergo further processes to personalize them which means more time is required. A few days might be required for your order to be processed and don’t also forget that the manufacturer might have other pending orders which can further delay yours.

Waiting for personalized orders to be finalized can take as little as a couple of days or even weeks depending on the size of the order that you placed. Also, if the manufacturer is busy at the time you placed your order, it might take even longer. If time is not on your side you can opt to go for rush orders but be prepared to pay more. Rush orders cost twice or thrice the cost of each favor.

All types of wedding favors can be personalized. One of the best and popular way of personalizing wedding favors is by having the names of the wedding couple plus the date of the wedding on the favor. Wedding couple can do this on various items ranging from candle holders to candy wrappers to pictures frames and not forgetting fortune cookies.

We have other methods of personalizing a wedding favor other than having the wedding date or the names of the bride and the groom. One other way is to personalize the items with a quotation from their favorite bible verse, favorite song or poem.

Another great and popular idea for buying personalized wedding favors is to dish out edible favors. Yes, edible favors! Different kinds of favors that are edible can be personalized and one great example are the photo cookies.

Edible cookies are made in many bakeries based on the picture you send to them. You send the photo either by email or they scan it from within their systems. Apart from the photo, the bride and groom can have their favorite quote, love song or wedding date printed on the cookies!

Gift wrappings can also be personalized when giving wedding favors. Many favors are usually wrapped in simple white paper. To make the favor more unique and personal, couples can include their names or wedding date. The couple can purchase the ribbons either precut or in one continuous flow. Precut ribbons are more expensive but the good thing is that they save the person doing the wrapping lots of time.

Getaways Do Not Have To Be Expensive

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008
by Peter Mason

Superb honeymoon getaways are not that hard to find, if you know what you are looking for! Consider the fact that you and your spouse will enjoy the first vacation together as a married couple and you will quickly understand why this memory maker is such an important occasion! Unfortunately, with the rising cost of weddings putting considerable strains on the budget of the average couple, there is usually precious little money to go around for the vacation, and sadly some couples are tempted to skimp on they honeymoon getaways.

Fortunately for you, the honeymooning couple means big business to many a travel agency, cruise line, and also hotel and it is thus not surprising that special honeymoon packages with discounted rates are quite frequently made available. Of course, there is a lot more to a superb honeymoon locale than just a price that is right ? you and your new spouse must agree that this location has everything you are both looking for and more!

If you are both avid beach lovers, then even the nicest mountain resort will most likely not suffice. Conversely, if you both dislike gambling immensely, a trip to Las Vegas ? albeit cheap ? is most likely not going to be the trip of a lifetime worth remembering. Rather than shopping by price, style your own superb getaways by thinking through all the activities you would like to do when on your honeymoon and then work backwards in trying to find a location that offers them. Once you have found the locations, find one that is budget friendly!

You may wish to engage the help of a travel agent who can steer you in the right direction and may also be able to find you some great deals on tickets and entry fees for the activities you will pursue once there. In addition to the foregoing, remember that with the wedding in the works, you will be busy planning and deciding enough as it is, and adding travel arrangements to the mix might be a little much. Granted, you will need to pay a little extra for the service you are receiving, but considering that all travel arrangements will be made professionally with boarding passes in place, connecting flights organized, a rental car waiting, and a hotel room reserved, the fact that nothing goes by the wayside and is forgotten is well worth the fee.

Remember that your honeymoon is an investment such as your engagement ring, and as such you will want to ensure a good return on this investment. Saving money in the wrong area will result in only a marginal experience and perhaps a lot of frustration as you seek to change rooms, hotels, or even airlines! Instead, enjoy the location, the activities, and most importantly ? each other!

Finding the Perfect Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008
by Amy Nutt

In the hustle and bustle of planning a wedding, finding a great wedding photographer just seems like a difficult task. After all, you really don’t know what you’re getting half the time and if you hire a proper studio to do the job, you’ll end up paying a small fortune! So, how do you know whether or not a photographer is good at what he or she does?

Here you’ll find tips on how to check out a wedding photographer before you actually sign a contract.

Wedding Photographer Tips

Look at the portfolio. While this may seem like the most obvious method of finding out what a photographer can do, you’d be amazed at how many couples glance at a couple of photos online and make their decision. Ask to see the photographer`s wedding portfolio and look through the whole thing.

Get references. One of the best ways to find out if a wedding photographer does satisfactory work is to check with those he’s shot for. You will want to ask them not only if they were happy with the photos, but also how the photographer was to work with. Some photographers are amazing at their job, but their attitude can cause a lot of extra stress on a day when you really don’t need any more!

Avoid packaged wedding photographers. Some event halls offer special wedding packages that include a photographer. However, you don’t know how good this person is, so it’s not a good idea to just sign up for the photographer-included package. Take the time to do your research and you will be far happier with how your photos turn out.

Ask about the equipment maintenance schedule. Does the photographer send their equipment in for servicing on a regular basis? The last thing you want is for a camera to break down in the middle of your wedding. Anyone who sends their equipment in regularly (once a year is the norm) should have properly working gear. You may also want to ask if they bring in extras, as well, just in case.

Interview the wedding photographer. This is an important part of the process of choosing a photographer for your wedding, since it will give you a good feel for what the photographer is like. It’s usually a good idea to interview at least 3 or 4 different wedding photographers before making a decision. That will let you know just what your options are and allow you to make the best choice.

Hire early. The good wedding photographers are all booked months ahead of time, so be sure to set this up early on. You will also have the relief of getting this stressful task out of the way long before you are down to crunch time with the wedding plans. As soon as the wedding date is set, start looking for a good wedding photographer.

Ask about a contract. If something should go wrong, you will need a contract to back your claims up. A good photographer confident in his skills will be more than happy to sign a contract that specifies how many 8×10s, 5×7s, etc. will be included in the package. Those who know they could be in trouble will generally try to get out of signing a contract, so beware.

To find a really great photographer, you’ll have to do a bit of research, but it is well worth it. After all, this is a once in a lifetime event . . . you want to be sure it’s captured perfectly!

How Do You Learn How To Design Your Own Wedding Dress?

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008
by Jannine Topolski

Of course you have lots of different options when it comes to finding wedding dresses, but did you ever think to design your own wedding dress? Most brides would scoff at this idea, especially if they have no previous design or craft skills.

But do you really need any experience or special talent in this area to design your own wedding dress? We will try and answer these questions so if you have an interest in this please carry on reading.

How to Design Your Own Wedding Dress.

Initially there is a requirement for you to find a designer that will work alongside you in this process. You need to do this immediately because you need to start off from a solid base.

They will want to know some basics such as the style you are looking for: Classy, sexy, traditional or modern etc.

A quick and easy way to do this is to take your designer with you and go visit a number of different bridal retailers. Spend some time trying on dresses of different designs and styles and let your designer provide some feedback as to what he or she thinks suits you and which do not. This will then generate some ideas for you to work on.

The next step to design your own wedding dress is to choose a color. Although white is the standard and traditional color, wedding dresses in this day and age are available in every color of the rainbow. Some of the more popular options are pink, purple, burgundy and black, and so speak to your stylist about this as well.

Once you have established the style of dress you want you can then think about color and fabric. Your designer should now start to take detailed measurements in order to commence work on the dress.

The main advantage of designing your dress and project manageing the process is that you have first hand communication channels with the dress maker and designer. This allows you to make adjustments quickly and to see your dress being built up a stage at a time.

As well, because you are having the dress custom designed for you, it will fit better than any other pre-made dress in any store, and thus flatter your figure as much as possible.

Don’t Let It Slip Your Mind.

If you have budgetary constraints it will be easy for you to loose track of your spending during all the excitement. Please try not to get carried away and keep your focus on all the aspects of the process.

Unless you are lucky enough have all the resources you should be setting a budget even if it is at a summary level.

Fall Weddings Incorporate Sights and Sounds of the Season

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008
by Guy Morris

Is a fall wedding a sound idea? After all, June is the premier month for weddings and it may feel a bit odd to consider going against tradition to such an extent. Yet the numbers of those choosing a fall wedding are beginning to add up and if you have ever had the fortune to attend a marriage celebration that was able to capture the very essence of the season you understand what makes this an almost irresistible season for this occasion!

When compared to the June nuptials with their soft pastels and light colors, fall is the season that inspires boldness and lush, rich colors as well as heavy textures. Warm colors in the shades of sweet potatoes, earth tones, fir trees, ripe corn, and the reds and golds of falling leaves are all invited to the party.

Of course, if you thought it was just the bold color palette that made for an exciting fall wedding, you are mistaken! Locations that capture not only the sight but also the sound of the season now add to the plethora of reasons for choosing this exciting time of year for a celebration of such life changing magnitude! Imagine the sound of the wind as it gently moves a field of rip sunflowers, or the breeze that rustles the leaves in the orchard where a few apples not yet picked will give off a heady scent. Other locales frequently chosen are vineyards, country churches, or fields.

Foods served at the reception may include not just the traditional rubber chicken dinners with which almost everyone is familiar, but instead they may capitalize on the harvest richness that includes fragrant breads, jams, jellies, hams, nuts, squashes and a wide array of fruits and other veggies. For party favors these also translate into wonderful packages to be added to candles using maple extract as one of its main compounds. Other great gifts include marzipan reproductions of fruits as well as gilded nuts.

Take the color scheme a step further by opting for a traditional wedding dress which is dressed up with special accents for the fall colors. Instead of the traditional black tuxedo, why not have the groom dressed in a rich brown suit? Use special fall blooming flowers to adorn your wedding location or use them later on to provide accents of color during your reception. You will find that these rich colors and usually bigger blooms will make for an amazing effect among the smaller winter squashes.

Similarly, consider making the smells of the season one of the aspects of your reception. Light maple candles or rich beeswax candles where the scent of the wax will permeate the location and offer a way for the season to enter into the hall. A roaring fireplace instead of central heating is a great way to round out the atmosphere, and the odds are good that your wedding - rather than your cousin’s - will be the memorable event of the year!

7 Principles to Choosing the Best Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008
by Susannah Singer

Most of the time home photography is sufficient to record what is important enough to be remembered. But once in a lifetime events such as weddings deserve the extra touch of a professional photographer. There are plenty to choose from. How do you know which one is right for your special day? Below are seven principles to aid you in that choice.

1. Availability. Is the day free for the photographer to be present all day? Also, most people can’t afford hiring a distant photographer just because they’re good. How close do they live to the place the ceremony and reception will take place?

2. Skill. Photographing a wedding is much more than just setting up various shots and clicking. It will involve good equipment, good lighting, and expert skill. Of course the pictures will probably be digital. What pixel range will they use for the pictures? Generally the more pixels, the better the resolution but also the larger the file size. Then find out what the company’s reputation is? What do others say about their skill in taking wedding pictures? Are samples from other weddings available?

3. Personality. What would it be like to work with them? Are they pushy, trying to get you to choose their most expensive package, or do they present the options and let you decide? Would they tend to take over or fit in? How are they in working with children?

4. Price. Of course, money must be a consideration. Weddings are expensive enough, the average U.S. wedding now at more than $20,000. You want your special day recorded but you don’t want to go broke doing it. Are the options you want available with this photographer within your budget?

5. Service. How soon will others be able to see the pictures? How soon will you receive the ordered prints? If enlargements were ordered, when would they be available? Since digital is instant, is the option of displaying ceremony pictures during the reception available?

6. Options. A wide variety of options should be available. For example, if you so desire, is the photographer available during the rehearsal? Are they willing and available when you want the main photographic event to take place? Are they OK letting relatives take their own pictures while they are setting up shots? What creative suggestions do they offer? Can others print pictures off their website?

7. Integrity. Does the photographer deliver on the promises made? Is the photographer known for being on time and at the right place where they are expected? Are all the parts of the package you choose delivered as promised? Do they have other things planned that day or will they be there as long as you expect them to be?

You won’t want to reply on an amateur to photograph something as important as your wedding. If you follow these principles, you will probably not be disappointed with the person you choose.

What You Should Know About a Wedding

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008
by Amanda Maseko

A wedding is a ceremony that celebrates the beginning of a marriage or civil union between two people. Despite the religious perspective to describe a marriage, it is still a legal matter and documents must be signed before the law recognizes that a couple is married.

A woman taking part in the ceremony is called a bride, a man called a bridegroom, after the ceremony they become a wife and a husband, respectively. Of course other wedding traditions can be much more complicated as soon as you look into different race, social classes and ethnic groups to name a few.

Even in today’s climate, the traditional Church wedding is still the most popular service. Primarily in the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States and the British Commonwealth, these ceremonies are known as white weddings.

Double weddings are quite rare as they usually entail getting tow couples to marry at the same time and same place. Typically, a person with a brother or sister might plan a double wedding with that sibling.

Nowadays as the world shrinks it is much easier for couples to arrange a wedding in another country and have the guests travel to them with the honeymoon continuing without any further travel. Whether this happens for an intimate beach ceremony in the Caribbean, extravagant nuptials in Las Vegas or for a simple ceremony in someone’s back yard, chances are it qualifies as a destination wedding.

Two day weddings or weekend weddings are a great way to extend the ceremony and festivities as an increasing number of people are finding out. Other weddings come under the term of either themed or special activity weddings which usually take place over a weekend period. Accommodation for these weddings is normally arranged at the place the wedding is going to take place and the other events are being held.

Although unusual, you can even get married online and it will resemble a normal wedding or you can have characters of yourselves get married. Planning is made easy, with online wedding guides where reliable and friendly vendors are listed. Strangely, if you decide to have a wedding shown online in real time it is called an internet wedding.

Civil weddings have to be carried out by a local justice of the peace, judge, Although it may sound clinical, civil ceremonies usually make no reference to God. These wedding services are brief and to the point because they are a legal procedure and the couple getting married does not mind the circumstances of the marriage, just the fact that they are married.

The information provided here is mainly about weddings and marriage in the Western world primarily based on and around Christian beliefs.
